How Do I Get The
Best Service From Tech Support?
Your Technical
Support Representative's job is to help you, the user, solve problems. You
can make this process easier, quicker, and less stressful by following a few
simple steps:
- 1. Check the directions
you were following when something went wrong.
Sometimes the simplest, most innocent mistake can cause what looks like a
terrible problem.
- 2. Look for help
on the troubleshooting page of this site.
This section was included because everyone (even your Technical Support Representative!)
has had these problems from time to time. Your answer may already be waiting
for you a few pages away.
- 3. If you can, write
down what you did just before the problem started.
This way, you or the Technical Support Representative
can follow the same steps you did to reproduce the problem. Figuring out what
caused a problem is the key to solving it quickly.
- 4. Keep your User
Guide turned to the page regarding your question or problem.
Sometimes directions do not seem clear or are not detailed enough in regard
to your own system. If you and the Technical Support Representative are referring
to the same item on the same page, it is easier to communicate about a problem.
You may also want to take notes on that page for future reference.
- 5. When calling Technical
Support, use a telephone near your computer.
The best way to communicate problems to a Support Representative is by stepping
through the process that got you there while both of you are on the phone.
If you have more than one phone line, connecting to SkyPoint on one line while
talking to Technical Support on the other is ideal. Also, if you are instructed
on how to do something on your system, it is easier to do it while talking
to Technical Support than it is to write it down and do it later.
